Bathroom Stall Galactica is back!
This is the first blog post in our second semester. We started out with a Production Pass last week reviewing the materials we have, and we spent this week going through some logistics and deadlines for the project. However, some things don't change: I'm still working on the storyboard!
Not to worry though; I pitched the idea to the group to put a temporary lock on the storyboard over the next week in order to focus on the production phase - to unanimous agreement. Once it's finished, I'll put it on this site to replace the storyboard that's there now. I only have a few more frames to add, and then I'll be moving on to work on other things. First off, Logan and I will be recording reference footage for all of the slapstick that happens in the bathroom. We will be visiting a parkour gym that Logan frequents and using props and all sorts of fun stuff! Beyond that, I'm also working on the design for the UFO, using Mid-Journey AI to produce reference images for the geometry. This has been my first experience using any kind of AI for a project, but it'll be purely for inspiration rather than cutting corners.
The team has some amazing stuff going on across the board! Logan did a huge chunk of work over the summer, modeling the entire gas station set and doing research into look-development. He and Isaiah are currently working in Terragen to create a realistic zoom into Earth from space. Josh and Anna are hard at work as well, creating models for the main character and the alien design respectively, and Kayla is using her texturing skills to great effect! As per our teacher's expectations, we hope to be at a stage for layout and animation by the time the next Production Pass rolls around. We can't wait to get back into the swing of things!
