The spooky season has begun. BSG presses on. This week was basically a work week for the team, retopoligizing and prepping the character models for rigging, as well as proper whiteboxing for scenes. We're planning to have at least the beginnings of a 3D version of the storyboard for the next Production Pass, so there's lots to be excited about. For me, I'm looking forward to getting some animation done. I'm waiting with baited breath for the rigging stage to be out the way so that we can bring the reference footage Logan and I recorded to life. Thankfully, we're planning on using Advanced Skeleton rigs to work better with Unreal Engine, so it won't be as demanding as rigging from scratch.
In the meantime, I've been doing some smaller jobs on the side, namely 3D modeling. I'm also planning to make some more tweaks to the spreadsheet, which hasn't been updated since last semester. Logan also spoke to me about using Nuke for the project file, which I am woefully unprepared for right now. We'll be putting our 3D footage into a sequence and lining up with the original storyboard. I know that Logan would have no problem setting it up, but I also feel like he's been pulling the most weight in our team. He's been consistently on the ball with r&d and he's been experimenting with Terragen and Unreal Engine 5 to make our short look as good as possible. I'm lucky he's on our team, since I'm not one to take initiative. I'm more of an idea guy. So, I think it would be best for me to get my hands dirty some more, at least until the rigs are done.
